We strictly limit data collection to what is necessary for operating the application:

• Parent Account Information: When a parent or guardian creates an account, we collect an email address and authentication credential to manage parent settings and device pairings.
• Child Profiles (Parent-Created): Parents may create child display profiles (e.g., first name or nickname, avatar preference) to personalize story progress and gamification rewards (points and badges).
• Local Usage & Progress: We store audio playback progress, listened story history, and earned badges to enable auto-continue and personalized library views.
• Device Pairing Data: QR code pairing between parent and child devices generates an anonymous token link. No physical location data, contacts, or hardware identifiers are stored or shared.

2. How We Use Information

Information collected is used solely to:

• Deliver high-quality, continuous audio playback and story progression.
• Manage child profiles and award educational achievement badges.
• Enable secure parental controls and device pairing.
• Diagnose performance bugs and maintain application stability.

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

Roots & Reads does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Infrastructure services (such as Firebase for cloud authentication and storage) process data securely under strict confidentiality standards.

Children's Privacy (COPPA & App Store Guidelines)

Roots & Reads complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Apple & Google Play Store Kids Category Guidelines.

Key Safeguards for Children Aged 4–9:

• No Direct Contact or Messaging: The app contains no social features, public forums, chat rooms, or direct messaging.
• Kid Sandbox via Device Pairing: Child devices are paired to a parent account via QR code. Paired devices cannot access parent settings, account management, or staff tools.
• No Targeted Ads or Analytics Tracking: We do not track children across third-party apps or websites.
• Right to Review and Delete: Parents have full authority to view, modify, or permanently delete any profile data associated with their account at any time within the app settings.
